Brethren In Harmony Membership

You are cordially invited to participate in a community chorus that uses the barbershop style as a tool for Christian witness. The only requirement is to know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Musical experience isn't necessary.

Singing barbershop music is unlike any other kind of singing. It's done without accompaniment, and it relies upon close listening to achieve that gorgeous sound and emotional impact.

Although barbershopping is great pastime, it's even better with songs of Jesus. Since little gospel music is available in this style, new arrangements are being written and published.

It's easy to learn! Singing barbershop harmony is not at all difficult. If you enjoy music and have the desire to sing, you have the basic ingredients. Music will be provided along with practice tapes that will help you learn the songs. Be prepared, however. It will take practice and dedication on your part, but the musical, fraternal, ands spiritual benefits are well worth your effort.

Community Outreach

Men often have difficulty getting involved with believers from other churches in performing community activities. Harmonizing with our Christian brothers will help foster and encourage inter-church relations.

The unsaved person will attend musical events much more readily than church activities. Presenting the gospel clearly through our concerts is one way to help them make that important decision to trust Christ.

A small church might not have enough men to start its own chorus, yet it might have singers eager to learn. This will be an outlet where good harmony skills can be developed to extend its music program.

Concert Ministry

Brethren in Harmony is an independent non-profit chorus not affiliated with any particular church. It is a faith ministry in which concert invitations are accepted freely, although many hosts give offerings.

Two annual public concerts are planned. In the summer, we present a "God and Country" theme, combining spiritual and patriotic songs of our rich heritage. Then, in December, we celebrate with our Christmas Concert -- a program of sacred and secular carols, family traditions, and a retelling of the Christmas story.

In addition to these two concerts, there are ample opportunities for sing-outs: church services, banquets, missionary conferences, retreats, prison outreaches, fairs and festivals, and wherever the Lord leads as He adds to our fellowship and improves our proficiency. Every member helps decide which concert invitations can be accepted.

As far as can be determined, there are no other gospel barbershop choruses. Consider what would happen if Christian laymen all across America, who are smitten with the barbershop style, start harmonizing and proclaiming the claims of Christ!
